Assami Ril Do/Potato curry

Hey everyone!!!

Today i tried making this assami recipe. It is made with small baby potatoes. Looks like kinda dum aloo but its not dum aloo. Hubby dear liked it a lot with roti. It was a bit tangy for me. I should have added less yogurt, turns out when i use a bowl for whipping yogurt i use extra water not to waste the yogurt clinging to the bowl... i am pretty greedy in this kind of things... Later i had to cook the dish for extra 10 more minutes to reduce the added water.. what a puddle!

Peeling baby potatoes is a tiring task. But it was worth it. Anyway if you like tangy potato curry, this is the recipe for you...

Ingredients:
10 small baby potatoes, peeled
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1 dried chilli roughly pounded
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder ( recipe dint ask for it.. but i used it :) )
1 small tomato finely chopped
1/2 cup plain yogurt whipped
Salt to taste
  • Boil potatoes in water just until fork-tender. Lightly prick the potatoes with fork and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat some oil and add ginger garlic paste and saute for 10 sec. Add dried red chilli, turmeric and chilli powder. Mix well
  • Add tomatoes and saute for 3-5 min.
  • Add the yogurt and cook for about 5 min. Add potatoes and saute for a min. Add water and cook covered in low heat for about 20 min. Add salt to taste and serve hot with roti.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
